Race Day Report

September 20, 2008

Thank you to all who turned out to help with our September 20 race day.  Due to your hard work, the day was a resounding success!!

Fourteen competitors and a large contingent of support staff turned out Friday night and Saturday to honor Chuck Peavy and his family.  Chuck's family was at the event and was touched by the acknowledgment of Chuck's role in the motorcycling community.  They send their thanks to all who participated and contributed to the Memorial gift.  In addition to entry fees and contributions made Friday & Saturday, motorcycle enthusiasts at Year One made a contribution through Michael Smallwood.

The flat track community again turned out in large numbers.  We ran 23 classes, 14 heats, and 14 finals.  83 entries came from Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee.  The mix -- 58 AMA entries & 25 AHRMA entries -- included quite a few riders who participated in our July 19 event, validating that people like the Aonia Pass tracks and the events put on by our GREAT members.
